State Specific Question About: WISCONSIN (WI)

If you provide free heat, how high must your thermostat go to? I have heard 68 degrees. Can anyone confirm? I have my thermostats set so they do not go past a certain high setting.

The legal setting depends on the local municipality minimum setting. Some municipalities allow the temperature to turn slightly at night where others the minimum temperature must be set at all times. Check with the town or city hall to find out what the minimum indoor temperature should be. During the day here the heat in the apartment building goes off during the day when the outside temperature reaches 10 degrees celsius or 50 imperial. In the town where the apartment building located the minimum setting at all times is 21 degrees celsius or 70 imperial. Using a electronic boiler control where the heating can be shut down on warmer days and nights. The warm weather shut down outside temperature can be set. A electronic boiler will paid for in less then one heating season as there are considerable savings in the fall and spring where heat is not needed during day and some nights. Using a tekmar control to control two high efficiency gas boilers and the indirect hot water tank temperature. If the heating equipment is older then one can consider upgrading to higher efficiency equipment. --216.110.xxx.xx

It's 67 degrees in Wisconsin. Otherwise you have to provide notice prior to the lease signing if the place is not capable of maintaing 67 degrees. --71.117.xx.xx

HUD calls for 70F so I set mine at 74 just to compensate for small error, I even had a magistrate once ask the tenant why she needed heat above 72 - he had a medical background and made it very clear that the human body cannot metabolize food when the temp is high all the time, his opinion is this is why many people have obesity problems, use the setback feature and the body weight should setback as well. --64.255.xxx.xx
