State Specific Question About: KANSAS (KS)

If a tenant needs to stay elsewhere for a couple of days while repairs are made am I responsible for cost of hotel? Repairs were not due to my negligence or tenants', just due to our lovely winter weather.

depends on your rental agreement as well as what you think of this tenant. Also whether or not the tenants contributed to what I assume was a Freezing problem. --70.244.xxx.xx

On page 36 of the Ks LL handbook It appears that A LL may be responsible of temporary relocation if place becomes uninhabitable. I guess it depends on what "Uninhabitable" means. --70.244.xxx.xx

Did the roof fall in from snow or is it just some frozen pipes? It only makes sense to me to have them out if the repairman is gonna work around the clock to use the empty time to shift into overdrive. --76.241.xxx.xx

In CA we don't have to pay for hotel/motel.

A judge told me that it is seen as financial hardship on the landlord unless you can get them a motel/hotel for the same amount of $ that they pay the LL per day for their rental.

Which is usually around $20 25 bucks a day. I can't rent a room for that amount these days. Can you?

You do need to discount the monthly rent for the days they didn't have full use of their dwelling.
