State Specific Question About: GEORGIA (GA)

Have tenant playing games with rent promises. Filed for eviction (dispossary) and Monday is scheduled court date. Tenant paid all back due rent and late fees by money orders Friday afternoon. I plan on filing dismissal in court Monday with tenant in attendance, however, wish there was a way for the Judge to tear into this tenants lack of priorities for his family. --74.176.xx.xx

You want the COURT to be a parent. LOL

You might want to increase your late fees to a punitive amount that is legal in your state. I charge a FLAT $95 it makes Tenants call and work out problems before.

It's a business. Take your hard earned back rent money and do something you enjoy. Living well is the best revenge.

I think you could have refused it and made the tenant pay in court. Then if they did not show up they would be evicted.

Here in NJ they have a law now that a tenant can be evicted for repeated late payment. Someone who chronically pays late can be kicked out. Not sure what the fine points are and how many months it has to go on. --76.99.xxx.xx

In Georgia, you are unlikely to get your wish. They process them thorough so quick that it is unlikely to be much of a conversation. I recommend that you see about faxing a dismissal into court and avoid wasting your time there. I understand your emotion but enjoy your late fee. You earned it. Take care. --74.166.xx.xxx
