State Specific Question About: WASHINGTON (WA)

Should I rent to people who just filed bankruptcy chapter 7? --67.171.xxx.xx

I wouldn't rent to anyone who had filed bankruptcy in the past 5-7 years, and only then if everything else looked OK.

If you want to take a chance make sure it has been discharged and they have a couple years of smooth payments - I would say I can not help you at this time. They are gonna live with family till this gets cleaned up. --76.241.xxx.xxx

Funny most bankruptcy are a result of medical bills, and once bankruptcy is filed they can not do it again for 7 more years.

I;d be interested in the reason they filed, a tenant with no bills is better than one that owes everyone.

Just my thought.

Evicted tenants are always a no no... --67.163.xx.xx

In this tenant pool, I'd probably not worry about it. They gotta have a place to live and aren't going to be buying a house. --66.228.xxx.xxx

I actually read a filing the other day here in FL. Based on the recorded filing, no way would I take someone in bankruptcy or bordering filing. Filing such is saying that the person couldn't take care of him or herself and is asking a judge to do it for them. So any decision of who gets paid is not up to the failed person; it's up to a judge to decide.

Nothing about that arrangement would entice me to accept them. --98.183.xx.xx
