Katie,

You can ask your questions here. We will try to help. That is what we are here for.

First advice is not to post your phone number online. --208.94.xxx.xxx

Second advice is to not use god bless here. Majority of us see this as a red flag as you will eventually come to understand.

Third, follow Ellie's advice. We are here to help. --96.225.xxx.x

You can find out most of what you need to know on this site. Although some things may be specific to where you are in Missouri, most things are more general. Your consultants here may not all give you the same answers, as we all are coming from different situations - but it will help you tremendously. And don't be easily offended. Some will say it how they see it and not be concerned about finding the most tactful way to do so.

Read all the posts here, even if you think they don't apply. And check the Q&A library.

Where is your rental property?

I am in Kansas City normally - but now I am in Paris, France dealing with a very serious family crisis.

Check out landlord associations. There are at least a couple in the Kansas City area and probably in other cities also. --82.224.xx.xx

Barbara,

While I personally don't throw out "god bless"...I don't know that I've ever been offended by anyone who does.

I've spent a fair amount of time reading this board off and on for about the last 4 years and have never heard this referenced as a "red flag". Could you help me understand what you were referring to....thanks! --209.124.xxx.xx

moots - do some more reading. always a red flag. heck, in my business, we don't take checks anymore from churches, priests, reverands, preachers, nuns. had more bounced cks from holy rollers than everyone else combined. god don't pay the bills. how does that saying go...in god we trust. everyone else pays cash. hahahaha --97.94.xxx.xxx

Moots,

The use of "god bless" when asking a simple question can be seen as a ploy to manipulate someone into assisting them. It says "I am a Christian and because of that I am a really good person and you should help me and there is no need to question my intentions."

Katie,

You would be best served by posting your question because you don't know who is going to call you and they may give you bad advice. At least by posting the question there is some peer review of the responses and I think you get a better answer.

Some people are quite religious and use god bless a lot in everyday conversations. Others use it to get something. It's hard to know the difference sometimes. Just make a mental note of it and move on. --98.247.xx.xxx

Katie, no one is going to spend money on a long distance call to you when posting here is free.

We have heard it all, just post your problem.

I'll bet she doesn't come back here, too much trouble. Easier to pick up the phone. --76.99.xxx.xx

Thanks for all the "god bless" feedback...

I kind of assumed that was what she was implying but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something more.

Guess I'm just used to hearing it and without other supporting evidence always give the benefit of the doubt and assume it was meant with good intentions. Although I'm sure many use it in the negative context as described and warned about...

Regardless, A "god bless" tacked on the end of a conversation isn't going to affect my handling of any situation, so my opinion is if they want to include it, feel free, no skin off my back!

Thanks again and god bless!....just joking! :-) --206.124.xxx.xxx

p m h,

with regards to Landlording... No doubt, I am! ...lol!

However, I'm 4 years into owning my first property, on my second set of tenants without any major incidents and have never had Any of them so much as a day late with rent.

I've done this with nothing more than good luck and countless tidbits of good advice gathered off this forum. And for that, I'm thankful! --66.186.xxx.xxx
