I am renting a rowhouse to 3 individuals. The rent does not include a parking space. Most of the residents park on the street. I have a garage behind the house, approximately 40 ft from the back door of which you enter into from the alley. I currently use the space for storage of my items. I advertise the house with or without the garage, of course, for an additional cost if it were to include the garage space. The problems is this. My tenant parks his car right in front of the garage door inches from it so as to keep from blocking the alley. I have told him several times to not park there unless he is willing to pay extra. alleys are a public street also...I would call police to complain about a car blocking your access and ask them to tow the vehicle...however, I would first forewarn the tenant that is what I will do...then if they continue to park there...they have been warned... --74.110.xx.xxx

I had a simular problem -- cars parking close to my storage garage so I couln't open the garage door for my personal access. First I installed metal posts so no one could block my garage door from openning. Then I realized that if I changed my swinging doors to pull up sectional doors on a track, they don't open and I could open the doors and walk inside the garage for access. Contact your friendly local tow company and have them give you one or two of their free "no parking, tow away zone" signs. Post the signs in the problem area and next time a car blocks the space, call the tow co. and have the car removed and towed to the companies impound lot where the tenant or guest will have to cough up the fees to recover their vehicle (no cost to you!) simple enough? --76.108.xxx.xxx

You need to post the no-parking spaces before towing, once you have a picture of the sign and the vehicle it is open season with the tow truck, I tell my tenants I have a 200 dollar bet with 4 guys I know that work there they will never get one of my own cars. --99.161.xxx.xxx
