State Specific Question About: GEORGIA (GA)
Looking for any/all info. on Homeowners insurance for a rental property that is currently vacant? I've heard that some insurance companies will not insure it after it's been vacant for 60+ days. Is this true?

That's correct. Insurers don't want to take the risk of vandals or arsonists targeting the property.
If you choose to turn the property into a rental, you don't need a homeowners police you'll need a dwelling policy. --99.4.xxx.xxx |

Coverage gets greatly reduced after a property is vacant for 60 days. You can call your insurance company and let them know it is vacant and see if they will cover it while vacant for a higher $$ amount. Or get builders risk insurance. --98.111.xxx.xxx |

I am an insurance agent in California and I write policies on vacant homes with a carrier called Foremost. It is true that most homeowners/landlord policies do not cover claims if the home has been vacant for a period of time prior to the loss (typically 30 days) so you will want to make sure you obtain a vacant home policy. --72.219.xxx.xxx |
