I drive around the neighborhood and call on rental signs, asking how many bedrooms they have, and what condition the property is in, and what they are asking. I try to get a feel for where my rent should fall after doing this kind of survey. And then I just try it out. Currently, I am managing a house for someone else. They wanted me to ask a high amount for the rent. We have been through 3 weeks of lots of phone calls, but no takers. When we finally got the rent down to the market level, we have had much more success. --70.94.xx.xxx |

Check sq ft of the other places and amenities offered, craigslist or rentometer can give some insight also. --99.161.xx.xxx |

If you are in a rent control area, there should be guidelines for that. If not, charge the market value or a little under. Check craigslist, the newspaper for what your area is going for. --207.197.xx.xxx |
