Twice now I have been able to fix an asphalt driveway/parking lot with roof patch. The section I fixed was in very rough shape, down to just lumps of asphalt and I could see the dirt below.

I bought it in a can at the hardware store. It is the one that can be used on a dry or wet roof.

I spread it with a drywall plaster spreader and covered the sticky top of the patch with builder's sand.

It sat for about six hours and it was a warm and sunny day. When the tenants pulled in, the stuff flattened down nicely and did not stick to their tires.

I covered some cracks in the same parking area with some stuff that is about six inches wide and comes rolled up and I could just unroll it over the cracks and it stuck just fine. Used that last year on another driveway and it is still great.

Hope this is useful information for someone.

Why not just use asphault patch, tar on the cracks and driveway sealer? What type of roof patch are you using? --66.72.xxx.xxx

My experience with asphalt roof patch is to always buy the kind that says "fibered"-It's thicker. The other kind is like thick paint and runs out from under the vent caps.

Haven't tried in in a drive but figure the tubes that you use with a caulk gun would fill a crack nicely. --74.194.xxx.xxx

Asphalt patch comes in bags that I can't lift.

It is very hard and dry and needs to be tamped which I can't do. Or a car can run over it and press it down but that's annoying.

I redid an entire driveway apron with asphalt patch years ago and it lasted only one year.

This really work and this was not just a crack. I did use the stuff in the tubes for the cracks with a caulking guy.

This was a one by two approx area that was almost bare of asphalt. --76.99.xxx.xx

I used Black Jack. Also the runny stuff can be made better by adding sand. The handyman and I accidentally did that last year.

Ooze it into the crack and then spread sand on top and work it into the ooze with a little plaster spreader. Then a contractor told me that he had been doing that for years with great results.

The little patch I did on the same drive last year was still there and in good shape also. --76.99.xxx.xx
