Found someone had broken into a laundry room and tried to drill out the lock on the coin box. (inserted a drill into the keyhole) The bright guy (s) were not successive but now my key won't go in. Anyone ever have something like this happen? A locksmith probably can't do anything as the keyhole is too damaged.I'm pretty sure I can order a new box/lock but how to get the box open? --70.109.xxx.xxx

Seen it many times in non-LL realted jobs and it was vending machines (soda and candy). The lock (cylinder?) was replaced and it was common as stated by the service guy.

Do you have a service contract or do you own the machines?

A couple of yrs ago someone tried to break into our machines, we put in new boxes but placed a hole sideways in front of old lock & padlocked with a piece of bar iron. A 2nd lock in front of new box lock. Too much work for most & have not had any problems since. --72.26.xx.xx

The lock box is finished so the only option is to continue to drill out the lock by going to a larger and larger drill bit until the lock is completely drilled out. Then one can insert a slotted screwdriver to open the box. Drill out at very slow speed with oil otherwise the drill will quickly become dull. --216.110.xxx.xx

A locksmith can safely drill out the damaged lock and put a new one in for you. --76.99.xxx.xx

I see no other way to get inside the coin box other than to continue to drill it out and buy a new lock and/or coin box.

Years ago I had somebody break into my one coin op washer. They did not go for the coin box, then instead got into the electronic part, and bypassed the cam so they could use it for free. I am always amazed at how low life criminals will risk alot of legal trouble over something small like that. --74.99.xxx.xxx

The bar gizmo KT described it one of the best ways, go to a trailer place and get the long hitch pin with the end already formed, drill a 3/4 hole in both places and insert the pin, drill a large enough hole for the shank or the padlock, cut off any excess - viola... --76.241.xxx.x

MonarchCoin can replace the broken parts (and sell you better protection of you want). Also, call or email Monarch and they'll probably tell you the easiest way to get it open. They have always been extremely helpful whenever I have questions. --74.8.xx.x
