State Specific Question About: RHODE ISLAND (RI)
What do you do if YOU (alone) are buying a house but your move in partners moves with you? Do I need a lawyer? --72.221.xx.xxx |

The situation you described makes no sense. What is a "move in partner"? Sounds to me like someone that should be moving in with you. --66.228.xxx.xx |

You do not tell them where you are going, or give them a key to new digs. --76.241.xxx.xx |

Speak up! Tell your co habitants (plural - with an S) that you are buying a house and that they will have to find other accommodations as they will not be living with you in your new house.
Your question is sketchy so we can only guess as to your situation.

I realized after that there were typos. SORRY. I meant to say I live with someone and I am buying a house and we are moving there together. Do I need legal papers drawn up saying he has no right to ownership of the house if he is not on the mortgage or the deed. --72.221.xx.xxx |

All the people that need to know , know that your Shack mate doesn't have rights of ownership. You are aware however in today's world that your signiicant other could end up with half your stuff , ever heard of "Palamony"? --70.250.xxx.xxx |
