State Specific Question About: OKLAHOMA (OK)

My ancient shop vac finally gave it up and I have to purchase a replacement. Any recommendations as to what to buy or avoid? --162.39.xxx.xx

Prolly not the largest one you can find, it will be heavy and may not fit your car either, get one where you can reuse your attachments, a lot of them have a 2inch flex pipe, the mini units have about 1inch and fill too quickly for me. --76.241.xxx.xxx

I have the big Mac Daddy Craftsman from Sears. It could suck the chrome off a bumper.

Love it, big, but MAN does it work great.

Around $100. --209.243.xx.xx

I bought a decent one from Lowes. 2" hose, I forget the size of the tank but it is something around 15-20 gal.

Do get a wet/dry unit. You may never need the wet feature but if you ever do there is nothing better. You can suck up water out of wet carpets, spilled water in bathroom or kitchen.

The unit I bought you also can buy big bags for it like a house vacuum and the bags are extra fine filtration. It will pick up sheet rock dust without filling the room or house with the dust blowing out all over the place.

Best $100 I spent in a long time. --24.136.xxx.xx

I 2nd the wet/dry recommendation.

After I burned out the 2nd one from Lowe's, I switched to Home Depot and have yet to burn that one out. --32.165.xxx.x

These type of vacs can come with either a large 2" diameter hose or a smaller 1 1/4 or so size...the smaller size hose is much easier to use for vacuuming in tight places, such as using it to vacuum out a car, but may clog easier if you try to pick up lots of large size stuff...take the hose size into account, what would work best for you depends on how you intend to use it. If you want to save your tools and hose from the old vac, try to buy a new one with the same size hose. I have 6 and 12 gal vacs with both hose sizes...I like the 1 1/4" hose better.

Lowes and Menards sell ShopVac...Home Depot carries Rigid...either are good.

As mentioned by Mac above, I too like to use a disposable bag, I know ShopVacs can accept this, don't know about the others. --65.55.xx.xxx

I've got a 5 gallon 2 Hp Shop-vac brand vacumn. Got it at WalMart 6 yrs ago. Used it at our C-store for 2 years and have been using it here at home and in the rentals for the last 4 years. It'll use all the different filters and bags. They are selling this model for $35 right now at the Walmart in Bartlesville, Ok . As far as I'm concerned it's a best buy. --70.250.xxx.xxx
