State Specific Question About: WISCONSIN (WI)

In the state of Wisconsin, if a mouse is reported in a rental apartment, who is responsible: Landlord or tenant? This is the first sighting of any rodent inside the property, both units (duplex) were completely updated/remodeled 10 months ago, someone was present in one unit every day for four months. --208.7.xx.xx

Buy a $2 mouse trap and get rid of it. Does it really matter who is responsible? If the mouse got into the property then it came from outside which means there is a hole somewhere in your property. You are responsible for fixing the hole. --209.68.xxx.xxx

I agree with K - Find and fix the hole, get a trap, kill or release (as you prefer) the mouse.

I highly suggest you move on it quick before Mr. Mouse invites the Mrs. and the kids in..... --162.136.xxx.x

I say tenant.Pests are my tenants responsiblity. But if you can find the hole then you should seal it up. But make sure some stays on top of it, or you will have a mouse family and more. --74.243.xx.xxx

As my dear old granny used to say, "Ain't no such thing as one mouse."

You better get on it or it won't be the last time you get a call about it. --24.136.xxx.xx

Mouse trap or glue board, either way I would pay or reimburse tenant the first time. Check to see how it came in, hole in wall, door left open, or grade school class pet needing a summer home that got loose.

Then charge for unauthorized pet. j/k --64.148.xxx.xxx

If it is after tenant moves in, it is considered a Pet and tenant is charged extra.

Before tenant ever moves in place decon in the basement and attic. There won't be any more mice if you keep it in the unit all year long. --74.236.xxx.xxx

NO GLUE BOARDS! A mouse is a disgusting little rodent, but he or she doesn't deserve to die a slow and agonizing death were he either starves to death or chews off his own legs to get loose.

Get a snap trap so it's instant or a catch and release trap. --75.137.xxx.xxx

Give them bait or a trap and you'll look like a hero!

This should be standard stock in your rental -mobile. --69.243.xxx.xx
