State Specific Question About: OREGON (OR)

If you move from your parents rental and use another address for legal purposes and reside there, can the ladlord ask you to reapply to live in the rental? Or do you have permanent rights if you do not ask to be removed? --208.100.xxx.xxx

Who owns the property? The landlord, whom ever that may be, owns the property.

The landlord can set the rules for you to occupy the property. If one of the rules is that you have to apply to move in, then you must apply to move in.

You can always find another place to rent and if you look hard enough you may find a sucker who will let you move in without an application. --24.136.xxx.xx

I don't think the replies address the issue.

My GUESS (because Mary was very unclear) is that Mary moved out from her parents' place, and got her own apt. My GUESS is that the parent's LL is asking Mary to complete an updated application upon her parents' renewal, even though Mary no longer lives there.

But this is just guesswork since Mary was so unclear.

Interesting take, Mike. I took the post to mean Mary moved out and now wants to move back in. The LL is asking her to apply. --192.234.xxx.xxx

I also understood it that she moved away but now wants to move back - permanent rights? I think the only ones even with today mystery economics are still death and taxes. --99.160.xx.xxx

I read it like James did. She moved out, and now wants back in, believing she is entitled because her parents still live in the rental and she is their child.

But she is now an adult (I'm presuming) and must apply like any other tenant.

I'm wondering if there were problems when she lived there and the LL really doesn't want her back.

No there are no "permanent rights" but I'm sure Obama would like to fix that for you. --65.55.xx.xxx
