State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)
What can I (landlord) do about getting rid junk cars? --173.72.xxx.xx |

As I understand it, any vehicle in sight of a street/road needs to be currently licensed. If you have vehicles with expired license plates or no license plates in plain view, I think you can call the police/sheriff to have them towed. --71.62.xxx.xx |

If any unregistered/uninsured vehicle on private property is in sight from the road, the code enforcement officers go after the property owner which can mean a fine and court appearance. Maybe your area is different and you can follow Laura's suggestion.

You may have trouble dragging them out to the street so they can be ticketed and taken to recycle place, if you have one of those air pumps fill the tires as much as possible. Try to get title from owner so the scrap yard will take them, nice ones get money to you. --99.128.xx.xx |

I know some Landlords who recommend getting the junker out onto the street somehow (towing with another car, maybe?) and leaving it "parked" on the street. Sooner or later, the city will tow it away.
I don't recommend doing this because it is probably not legal, and is morally wrong -- kind of like littering, in my view. If you do this, don't get caught doing it.
