State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)

Is there a limit on how much I can charge in late fees - that is a percentage of the rent, or a fixed amount? --24.170.xxx.xx

You will have to wait for other VA knowledgeable folks to give you specifics...

I found it interesting after clicking on the Landlord/Tenant State Laws link at the top of this page...appraently, VA does not spell it out like MD does...in MD, the limit is 5%...

From what I've read in other situations like this...the court judges will decide what is reasonable or not...keep watching for others to respond...and also hope they tell you when/what date can you first charging the late fee... --70.109.xx.xxx

My lease say the rent is discounted $100.00 if paid on the 1st.

So if you want 1200 charge them 1300 and discount the 100 if paid timely.

We also add $5.00 a day after 5 days. --68.58.xx.xx
