State Specific Question About: MARYLAND (MD)
I am renting a room to my sister in my house on a temporary basis for up to 1 year. If at any time things are not working out, how do I evict her from my home? --151.196.xx.xxx |

You can't! She is your sister. To the end of your days you will be obligated to house and feed and generally care for her.
Parting is such sweet sorrow...
So long as you are living there you have greater latitude to force this than a regular tenancy BUT! if she chooses to not leave when asked to... you will have to file the eviction process papers in the district court **just like if she was a stranger**

Set your expectations properly here - expect to get NO rent from your sister. If she pays you anything, your expectations will be exceeded, and if she pays you nothing, your expectations will be met.

She's just been there a week and we have not entered into any written agreements and she has not paid me any money yet. She has not moved everything into my house - just her bed and a bag of clothes. I'm ready to tell her not to move anything else because the situation is working out for me and I can't help her. --151.196.xx.xxx |
