State Specific Question About: MARYLAND (MD)

If you wish to sell a rental while a tenant that is not paying rent on time is still living there what are there legal rights? Can you just give them notice or must evict them? What if unit sells and they are still there? Any help is appreciated..... --71.58.xxx.xx

You need to give them sixty days notice when the property is sold here in NJ.

With someone like that in it there may be difficulty selling it.

Let them know it is for sale and they may move. Put the sign on the lawn and the realtors will come knocking at inappropriate times as they usually do and the non paying tenant may get sick of it and leave, or they may change the locks. --76.99.xxx.xx

First post the proper pay/quit notice and get the tenant out, second it will be hard to sell a place with a tenant who does not pay, the new owner would inherite the lease and you must pass them the deposit, so get that tenant moving cause you will use the security in court at the same time the new owner thinks it is his to use. --76.241.xxx.xx

We gave our tenants 60 days notice here in upstate NY. It made them so angry and they screamed at me. But they were so mad they moved out 10 days after I told them. --172.129.xxx.xxx

What LL of flies said... they are already showing you they have no problem causing trouble (by paying rent late). Why would you have them in there scaring away your potential buyers? --66.228.xxx.xx
