State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)

I have some damage to the kitchen countertops.

Laminate finish. A few minor gouge grooves.

Is there a "filler" anyone knows of to make it smooth or does the surfacing need replacement?

Thanks for any tips/experience with this!

There is no easy answer for this question without seeing the depth and knowing if you can get this laminate pattern locally to splice in a patch to calculate the damage deduction, best to get a local estimate onsite. --76.241.xxx.xxx

If its a big gouge you might have to replace--but if it is just minor grooves/scratches--I have filled them with clear nailpolish which fills the scratch and dries clear and repells water. Once when the groove exposed the wood underneath, I didn't think the nailpolish would do it--keep water out of the wood. I tried dropping drops of superglue in the gouge. After the wood actually absorbed some of it, I dripped in some more--just enough to fill. Too much and you'll have a lump when it dries. This also dried clear, but I think protected better. It didn't look great but didn't look awefull. And The counters stayed in use till just recently when a change of appliances & cabs caused a change of tops too. --140.140.xx.x

I fixed some chips in the surface of one with Rustoleum enamel paint. I think the tenant set something hot on it and the chips popped off from the heat.

I just dripped tiny drops of it into the space and then let dry and did it again today. It looks pretty good. Scratches would be harder to do but you could try it. --76.99.xxx.xx

Thanks guys!

Going to try the superglue/nail polish route.

Can't see the groove marks due to pattern.

Counters only 2 years old...sigh... --71.62.xx.xx
