State Specific Question About: OREGON (OR)

Would you rent to someone that claims to be on workers comp. Eye injury has been over a year. Said makes plenty of money when I said 3 X rent. Works for construction company that builds schools. With this economy I don't know of any construction industry that will have for sure steady work.

I am not very interested in renting to him as he is single looking at 3 bedrm 2 bath house. I am thinking of asking to see evidence like claim paperwork or at least bank statement showing checks deposited. Will have to have very good credit and no criminal.

I just don't want short term tenant which I think he would be.

Thanks for your opinion, --71.111.xx.xx

I see your red flags. One person, 3 BR?, constuction industry in this economy?, off work for a year?

In Taxifornia I would have to accept his app but I would verify EVERYTHING. --72.25.xx.xx

You can request to see a few months' worth of bank statements. They'll show a history of regular deposits.

The last time I was out on WC in the 80s, the checks came with stubs, just like a paycheck. Ask to see the last 3 or 4 most recent consecutive ones.

If he can't (or refuses to) provide any way to document his income, you don't have to rent to him. --71.126.xxx.xxx
