State Specific Question About: MISSOURI (MO)
I heard that all apartment buildings must be ADA compliant by 2010. Does this mean existing units must have wheelchair ramps, t-stats lowered, parking, etc.... --70.250.xxx.xxx |

I don't know the answer to your question. I haven't heard that, but then I don't own apartment buildings.
Try contacting the state attorney general's office, ago.mo.gov, by email or phone.
There also is a section of the website dealing with ADA. --205.188.xxx.xx |

The ADA guideline manual is thick and very detailed and will bankrupt you if you must make EVERY change to comply. You must find out specifically what you are required to do in order to conform. I don't think anyone out here can speficially tell you.

the rules have a sliding scale based on several factors. The main one being the number of rental units under one roof (BIG multis).
Do some reading.

Google for fair housing act accessibility requirements. The ADA doesn't apply to most privately-owned rental housing. But there are FHA requirements if you are not exempt. In my area the apartment association has a lot of info. Best of luck to you. --65.45.xxx.xxx |
