State Specific Question About: WISCONSIN (WI)
How long do I have to get back rent from a renter. He has been out of the property since August 2008 when his lease expired? I have not to this point filed any paperwork. Am I too late??
Thanks --70.224.xxx.xxx |

It would be a civil matter, to be settled in small claims court. Call your local couthouse and inquire about the statute of limitations, generally between three to five years... --67.191.x.xx |

The longer you let it go though, the harder it may be for you to find him. I agree generally it is 3-5 year statute though/ --24.250.xxx.xxx |

In the future follow your state laws which are mostly 30 days to send accounting and deposit minus damages beyond wear and tear, when you do not do this some states allow for tenant to get 3x deposit automatically so study the laws slowly. --76.241.xxx.xxx |
