State Specific Question About: CONNECTICUT (CT)

If the lease expires, and the tenant doesn't move out, does the lease automatically renew? And if so, does it renew on the original length of lease (6 months) or does it become a month to month agreement. How many days notice does the tenant have to give befpre moving out? --24.2.xxx.xxx

What does your lease say? It really depends on that. --216.251.xxx.xxx

Your questions demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowledge for land lording in your location. Time to read your state laws. Get educated NOW before some pro-tenant puts the screws to you. Use the Landlord/Tenant State Laws tab on the top of this web page under the cruise ship banner ad. --204.80.xxx.xx

What Sid said.

*generally* and absent specific language to the contrary when a lease expires it ends (that is what expire means). Any continuing occupancy is done so under whatever the laws of your state will provide for (usually a "month to month tenancy")

Read. Learn.

The way the questions are phrased sound like a tenant asking the questions. An LL would know how much time their tenant needs to give written notice to move, along with the other fundamentals of the lease. --70.189.xx.xxx

Parol leases of lands or tenements reserving a monthly rent and in which the time of their termination is not agreed upon shall be construed to be leases for one month only.
