New construction? I wouldn't be surprised.
Existing? Not likely.
Check with your COUNTY building department. --71.166.xxx.xx |

Most likely, all new residences constructed after 2011 will require sprinklers. Maybe $3K added cost. --67.213.xx.xx |

It's an exsisting building I'm looking at purchacing. Because of the station fire in R.I. a few years ago the fire laws have become strict. I'm not sure who to contact to get the answer. --24.34.xx.xxx |

If it's a 4 unit requiring sprinklers, it probably needs to be alarmed as well. Look at annual flow test, rpz test, alarm test, as well as monthly monitoring and communications (phone, wifi or cell) --76.29.xxx.xxx |

Opinionated, thanks for the heads up, I did a quickle google search, and I assume you are referring to the following -
"In an overwhelming 1,283-to-470 vote late last month, the International Code Council (ICC) meeting in Minneapolis, Minn., mandated that sprinklers be required in all one-and two-family homes and town houses built to the International Residential Code (IRC) as of Jan. 1, 2011."
I know that this is not a requirement for existing homes, but should I assume that it would be way too costly to add sprinklers to an existing average size home? (Any free money available to do it:) But, if you did add sprinklers, would insurance companies give you a big discount if they are present? --205.188.xxx.xxx |
