State Specific Question About: NEW HAMPSHIRE (NH I am going to keep this bref. I had a issue in an apt. that needed some work and the building inspector told my tenant that he had to move. he would not move so The building insp. gave him a notice and said he could no longer live there. he did leave but he left a lot of items behind. How long do I have to give him befor I can pack up his belongs and change the locks? He did not turn in his key and I have not heard from him. --72.224.xxx.xxx |

Are you sure he didn't leave the key? I bet if you look closer you'll see it.
Get in, change the locks, start the work needed. Push his cra p into corners until it gets in your way then pile it up in the yard until you're ready to make a dump run. --96.244.xx.xxx |

The key is in the little drawer next to the sink, it fell in when someone wiped off the countertop. They left a couple bent spoons there to hide the key from the other guys, what did the building inspector want fixed that the tenant could not live thru? Most electrical/heat/water things can be fixed while someone is there, maybe the roof leaked and lots of ceiling came down? --99.128.xx.xxx |

video tape what was left. toss out what you are willing to replace if you were ordered to do so by a court. Store the rest for 28 days as per the law.
I had a former tenant leave an empty purse but I had the police join me when I went in to document. That is an old trick to claim valuables stolen by landlord. --75.68.xxx.xxx |
