State Specific Question About: SOUTH CAROLINA (SC)
I have a lease in SC, this is my first time ever being late. In my lease it exactly states under the Late Payment section: "For any rent payment not paid by the due date, Lessee shall pay a late fee in the amount of forty-dollars." This to me is a one time payment added to the rent when its late, whereas the landlord says its added per day the rent is late. Is that really what this sentence means? Is the landlord trying to extra charge me?
Example: Rent 800+40=840 - My thought
800+40(10)=1200 - Landlord says --69.38.xx.xxx |

If it doesn't say in the lease that it is per day charge, then it is a one time charge. --209.68.xxx.xxx |

sounds like a one time thing to me.agreement must clerly spell out the rules and if it does not say per day i would view it as a one shot deal.pay on time.u will be happier.get a calendar and mark each month on the 28th to "pay rent".that way u will never forget.we hope. --208.58.x.xx |
