State Specific Question About: SOUTH CAROLINA (SC)

I am a private landlord renting a home that does not have a refrigerator. Is this something I have to furnish for the tenant if they do not have one? --69.38.xx.xxx

Not required by SC Landlord/Tenant laws (click the blue link in the upper left portion of this screen)

Unless your lease states the home includes appliances (generic) or a refrigerator (specific) you don't have to supply one.

Now, if you have a good tenant that you wish to keep, you might be better off to supply one, but that's not what you asked. --141.129.x.xx

You have to follow local custom. If tenants expect it, you need to provide it. Otherwise, you will have an empty unit. --192.234.xxx.xxx

I think it would be easier to rent with one. You can go get one off craig's for $100 . What does it look like over in your area? Here in NV 95% have the fridge included. Liz --207.200.xxx.xx

PLMD,

I supply them with all my units. I don't like the tenants dragging their own across the vinyl floors and ripping holes in it.

Used fridge, delivered, for around $150 (basic) to $400 for a nice large with icemaker and water.

I have not yet had a tenant apply who had their own fridge. --141.129.x.xx

Remember to photograph the appliances and write down their serial numbers - I've had tenants skipout in the middle of the night owing rent and taking a 5 finger discount on the fridge. --75.8.xxx.xxx
