Creaky Laminate floor? (by Chance [MS]) Posted on: Oct 8, 2008 9:34 AM Message:
Hi All,
SFH on Concrete pad with laminate installed about 12 months ago. (6 months before I purchased) Am seeing several "creaky" and wide joints in the floor where it appears the subfloor was not level.
Is there any way to repair shy of taking up the whole floor and filling in the area?
Thanks!

Remove one room at a time and start over, there is a product which is a plastic and wood overlay to go over slab floors to help insulate from cold slabs but it still need a vapor barrier to prevent condensation wicking or seeping up to the flooring.
-- This is important for first time flooring reader, the subfloor must be solid and level to prevent any 1 or 2 year problems from developing, I read many post about how the laminate floors are waterproof but what happens is the not waterproof subfloor gets damp from bathroom or kitchen moisture and then it begins to twist or torque and twist and now the surface flooring shows signs of trouble, there is nothing wrong with the laminate, the trouble is the flooring choice for that room over that subfloor. --76.241.xxx.xx |
