State Specific Question About: CONNECTICUT (CT)

I was just checking Craigslist, my area is pretty pricey as far as cost of living, and someone posted this ad, I think times are getting ruff out there, this part of CT, is close to NY and many have lost jobs, etc. with the current state of things:

Craigs List Ad..

Married teacher looking for apartment in a house, I will do all the work for you including cleaning, cooking, laundry, yard and snow removal. I will house-set for you while you're away, I am very honest trustworthy and clean. I don't smoke and I don't have any pets. Will pay something, but not a lot. I have kids, so at least 2 bedrooms will be fine. Excellent cook and will even tutor your children. Please email me back with any availability. Thank you.

what i've noticed is that the people that have entered back into the rental market (that have lost their homes)are very picky. they forget that these are rentals and won't have the same add ons that a mortgage payment would offer. --166.68.xxx.xxx

Yes, people are fussy and want you to redo the rental also. It's been slow this week on Craig's List. I lowered my price 50.00 hoping to get a few more takers.

The winter market is always hard in the North East. --65.91.xxx.xxx

I lowered the price on one of mine just a little $15, and calls are coming in. Two prospects for tonight if they call back to confirm the appointment. Put in some new flooring too (laminate in living room; allure vinyl plank in kitchen and utility). Hope it rents soon; the last two months of multiple vacancies have hit the old slush fund pretty hard. --204.80.xxx.xx

I always had better success when my lease ran out in June/July. But, I had a pair of deadbeats, so my leases have been in the bad season. My current tenant, paid the rent and moved out, he was on a 6 mos. I had to be flexible and the guy was a great tenant. Just hope I get a good one this time.

There's a lot of units right now but still someone's always looking to move. I am hoping I get someone soon.

HI CT Landlord #1, (as I know you are the original). Well, I had one call on my rental this weekend, the person wanted to come immediately, but when I called back and provided contact info. I've still not heard back. I have this month's rent from the last tenant, but I have a feeling it's going to be another tough year. I saved up extra cash this time around to be prepared.

Just heard Countrywide has to help CT Mortagees that are in trouble, whose payments are more then 32% of their income. And, forgive interest on some of the loans and let other's keep thier homes who are in trouble. I have a mortgage with them at a very low fixed rate. Just glad they have to help those in need as CT was hit pretty hard.
