Hello all,

Is it OK (legal)to either mandate rent payment by EFT (electronic funds transfer) or to offer tenants a slight discount on the rent if they are willing to make their payment by electronic draft of their account each month?

Has anyone else been fortunate enough to get a tenant to do this? I hate collecting rent, and with EFT becoming more and more common, I am hoping somehow I can get my tenants to pay in this manner.

Any advice or comments?

I am trying Rentomatic.com - I signed up and activated a lease for a test run 2 days ago. The website sends your tenant an email inviting them to pay by check account number or credit card. The motivation for my tenants is that they don't have to buy money orders. I got a notice from Rentomatic that the tenant has paid, but the money has not yet been transferred to my bank account. Once I get my test rent check deposited, I'll use it for more tenants. --75.18.xxx.xxx
