State Specific Question About: MAINE (ME)

What is the maximum allowable temperature for a rented apartment in the state of Maine. --24.25.xxx.xxx

The heat required for apartments is a minimum level not a maximum level. Each town or city will have a local bylaw minimum requirement for heat. For example the town where the apartment building is located the minimum temperature during the heating season is 21 degrees celsius or 70F all the time. A lot of smaller apartment buildings here the heat is separated out where the tenant pays and controls the amount of heat needed for the apartment. The tenant can then set the heat to what ever level they require. One is not required to provide cooling for apartments. If there natural gas available one can install a wall mounted boiler or wall mounted heaters in the rental unit. --209.226.xxx.xxx

Do you mean it is too hot in an attic apartment? Call your health department and see what they say about it. --76.99.xxx.xxx

If you do not belong to the Maine Apartment Owners and Managers Association and a local chapter, you should.I have learned alot from these publications on lots of different subjects. --66.252.xx.xxx
