Is the no meter thing a new thing? I've never heard of that. I guess it means I'm either getting old, or I'm not travelled enough.

In order to have pay for a utility there must be a separate meter for the hydro electric, natural gas and water. Then the tenant will be billed for every cubic meter of natural gas, water and every kilowatt the tenant uses. First the bulk meters are removed then individual meters are installed for each rental suite. If a tenant agreeable to rent reduction if they sign for utilities. Or when the rental suite is vacated then the new tenant will required to sign for the utility. Have had converted a apartment building to individual hydro electric meters where most of the tenants signed up but there were a few hold outs. The ones in arrears were evicted then when the new tenant moved in the hydro electric had to be out of my name. Converting to individual electric meters should be the first priority as this is often the largest cost. --216.209.xxx.xxx |
