State Specific Question About: NORTH CAROLINA (NC)

quick question---when a rental verification comes in from another company, if the person is still under contract is it ok to say they are under contract-can not release info...i got that the other day and cant find anything saying that you can do that...plus if you CAN do that, then i will start doing that...but i do not want to break any laws...we get these all the time and i just wanted to know if you can write something like that --65.83.xxx.xxx

We always tell anyone who wants a rental reference on a current tenant who has NOT given their 30-Day Notice to Vacate yet that our "company policy" does not allow us to give out information until the tenant has given notice. --66.60.xxx.xxx

thanks, i appreciate it...that is helpful...cos i do not see why(even if it may be a poor verification)i would have to let anyone know if they still are under contract...and i will do that from now on...thanks again!
