IMO, common courtesy to provide notice is in order, regardless of yes/no per Statute.

In the past, on props we handled the yard maintenance, tenants were provided a general notice of the week days they should expect us. No definitive time/date was provided, just general info that exterior maintenance work will be performed on Wed thru Fri. --72.184.xxx.xx

We always call and leave a message if they don't answer and say we will be on the property on a certain day or week. I would want to know when people will be working around my house even on the outside.

Is it legal, I don't know? but respectful, yes- and it only takes a minute to leave a phone message. --98.208.xx.xxx

Assuming you are talking about a SFR, I would think that you have to give advance notice, just as if you were entering the house itself. After all, the exclusive possession you granted to the tenants includes the house AND yard.

If it is duplex or other property with common areas, I would guess that no notice is required, but I would still give notice as a courtesy.

If I'm going to be doing work outside the house, I might give a courtesy call if I think it could be disruptive/noisy or just as a heads up that there'll be wet paint somewhere and to watch out for it. I only post notices when I have to enter a unit.

Tenants know that I'll be there to cut the lawns once a week. I never give a specific notice as I do it whenever it's most convenient for me. --71.174.xxx.xx

We've got a couple of SFRs (gardener is included) and have the following wording re access of the outside grounds:

Landlord or Landlord’s agents may enter onto the outside grounds of the premises, without notice, during regular business hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
