State Specific Question About: CONNECTICUT (CT)

I thought I read somewhere that a lease cannot exceed a one year term, but can't seem to find that in writing anywhere

I have a prospective tenant that can only move in the middle of the month of March and would really like for his lease to come up next year in April, or better yet, May.

Is there a way I put him on a 12.5 or13 month lease?

Thank you in advance!

The reason a landlord has a lease is that you are guaranteed a tenant for the amount of the lease. The reason a tenant wants a lease is they are guaranteed the rent amount and that they won't be asked to leave early. Leasing and Moving are very expensive.

I like to end leases at the end of the month with rent due at the beginning of the lease term and then at the beginning of the month thereafter.

But as a ManateeAlley says it's up to you to ultimately decide what the terms are. As long as your tenants agree... --76.172.x.xx

Make the lease out to what ever length you want. I think if it's over 5 years then it must be recorded on title. --71.235.xxx.xx

I think prime moving seasons starts earlier anyhow. If it were me, I'd be fine with it ending mid-March. Gives me a week or two to make it perfect for April 1st -- which is the start of the good season, IMO. I wouldn't personally push it all the way to May anyhow.

All that being said, I'd be doing a MTM anyhow. :)
